Playing here is like reading a good novel. The first several holes introduce you to the characters: immaculately maintained fairways, velvety smooth and exceptionally fast greens, and the approach shots, seeming moderate in stature, but turning devilishly difficult upon closer examination. On the back nine the plot thickens… and so do the trees. Tight landing areas make even the best shot makers nervous. Club selection and strategy off the tee become as important as the ensuing approach shot. As the finishing holes unveil, the stage is set. However, the verdict is still out. Who will win, the golfer or the course?? In the end, who wins is irrelevant. An experience this good is worth coming back to!

Among one of the jewels in northern Michigan golf is The Dream. Opened in 1997, The Dream is literally carved out of 312 acres of hardwoods to form one the most spectacular courses in Michigan. The course can be reached along Old 76 just three miles west of downtown West Branch.
This championship-style eighteen hole course is very challenging. Every tee box and green is elevated. There are elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Signature hole is the #5, a 166-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to a medium- sized green. Golf carts are mandatory and included in the greens fees.

This is one beautiful golf course. The gorgeous landscape includes thoughtfully designed flower beds, rock retaining and draining structures on tees and on cart paths where necessary, and the natural beauty of the rolling northern Michigan terrain. The latest addition to the West Branch collection of great golf is The Nightmare. The Nightmare is a sister course to The Dream and the creators of both courses have created a championship golf venue.
