Rifle River Recreation Area is surely one of the biggest draws of Ogemaw County. Within these 4,000 acres of state park land, you’ll find amazing areas for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and lots of lakeside camping spots to make for an unforgettable weekend excursion! Rifle River Recreation Area includes 159 campsites, several hiking trails and lakes within the area to enjoy. Within the watershed are two more state forest campgrounds, Rifle River and Hardwood Lake State Forest, each equipped with additional camping spots.

Rifle River is where all the action happens. 14 miles of pathways for hiking, biking, or even snowboarding and skiing in the winter. Lots of trout and fly-fishing opportunities.
